Hi, I'm glad you're here.
I have a Master of Science in Marriage, Family, and Child Therapy and have spent the past several years working with children, parents, foster parents, and families involved in the child welfare system. Along the way, I've learned that people heal best when they feel safe, understood, and accepted.
I work with people of all ages and am especially helpful for those struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship challenges, and attachment-related concerns. People often tell me I'm easy to talk to. I'm a regular person first and a therapist second, and I believe some of the best therapy happens through a genuine human connection.

Is your cup feeling empty?
I'm Shahna Duerksen, M.A., LMFT, a California-licensed Marriage and Family Therapist providing therapy exclusively to women 18+ through California telehealth and in-person sessions in Fresno.
I work with women who spend much of their lives pouring into others and may eventually feel overwhelmed, anxious, burned out, disconnected, or unsure of who they are beyond their responsibilities. Sometimes everyone else is receiving our time, energy, and care while our own cups are running low.
I especially enjoy helping women navigate adult ADHD symptoms, anxiety, depression, people-pleasing, boundaries, relationship distress, betrayal trauma related to infidelity or problematic sexual behaviors in a partner, identity and life transitions, and family or cultural expectations.
I also support therapists and mental health professionals—from those in training to experienced clinicians—who are navigating burnout, compassion fatigue, vicarious trauma, professional boundaries, self-care, and the emotional demands of caring for others.
Another meaningful part of my work is supporting women navigating life between cultures, including South Asian and Indian women balancing their own needs and identity with family, cultural, spiritual, or relational expectations. Finding room for yourself doesn't have to mean abandoning the people or values that matter to you.
I earned my M.A. in Intercultural Studies and M.A. in Marriage and Family Therapy from Fresno Pacific University. My education and professional experience inform my interest in culturally responsive care and the ways culture, family, relationships, and life experiences shape how we understand ourselves.
And yes—funny, polite sarcasm and humor are fluently spoken. I also speak very basic conversational Hindi.
I believe in the power of transformation, resilience, and healing. Just as the butterfly symbolizes growth through change, my practice is dedicated to supporting individuals, families, couples, and groups as they navigate life’s challenges and emerge stronger, more whole, and emotionally empowered.
I provide compassionate, culturally attuned psychotherapy services rooted in depth psychology, trauma-informed care, and holistic practices. My services include individual therapy, family and couples counseling, group facilitation, and consulting to support wellness in schools, community organizations, and clinical settings.
Whether you're facing personal struggles, intergenerational wounds, or seeking support in parenting, identity, or relationships, you don’t have to heal alone here—your journey matters, and I’m honored to walk alongside you.
Hi, I am Beth, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in CA. Adoption and foster care require a different kind of heart and a specialized set of tools. With three decades of dedicated experience, I help families navigate the nuances of trauma and "blocked trust." My approach is deeply empathetic, rooted in the belief that healing happens through connection. I provide the seasoned perspective you need to understand your child’s needs—and your own—more deeply. You don't have to do this alone.
The focus of my care includes partnering with clients to assist them in learning how to function in healthy relationships with themselves and others. I enjoy working with clients who have been wounded by trauma and want to learn how to heal from trauma.
You’ve been holding it together for everyone else, but inside, it feels like you’re unraveling. You feel trapped in exhaustion and stuck in the same place. It makes sense to feel anxious, disconnected, or uncertain when you’ve worked so hard for so long to survive in systems not built for you. I want you to know I see it, and I’ve seen healing happen, even when it feels impossible. I work with people with neurodiversity and members of the LGBTQIA2S+ community navigating trauma, anxiety, identity, and relationships. Beneath burnout and fear, a part of you is reaching for connection. That part matters, and it’s where we begin.
